Calm place

Picture a place where you feel safe and at ease.

Choose a place

Choose a place, then press Start. Give each prompt time to settle before the next one.

About 3 minutes

How to do it

  1. Choose a setting, or pick “Your own place” and imagine somewhere real or made up.
  2. Get comfortable and soften your gaze or close your eyes.
  3. Follow the prompts one sense at a time: what you see, hear, feel and smell there.
  4. At the end, choose a word that reminds you of this place so you can return to it later.

Why it can help

Guided imagery uses the imagination to give your body a taste of safety. The more senses you bring in, the more real it feels. With practice, simply recalling your place or your cue word can bring back some of that calm.

  • Your place can be anywhere: a real beach, a grandparent’s kitchen, a cozy invented cabin.
  • If a calm place is hard to find right now, a breathing exercise may feel easier. That is okay too.
